Test 2

Greetings Friends and Fans of Crestview Home Repair!

Todays project is a simple installation of a new microwave. The "A-Team" is on the road to Shalimar helping a local homeowner in the Shalimar Country Club Community tackle the problem.

Symptoms:

The microwave appears to work. The light comes on. The fan runs. The turntable turns. But nothing is heated when the bell rings to indicate cooking time is over.

Diagnostic tests:

The "A-Team" fills a mug with water and places it inside the microwave. The timer is set for 2 minutes. The bell rings. The water is evaluated. Cold.

Diagnosis:

New microwave is needed. The "motherboard" is no longer functioning.

Plan of Action:

Remove old unit from the cabinet above the stove and replace with a new unit.

Action Team: Chip, Rick and Alicia

Rules of Engagement:

1. Crestview Home Repair's leader of the pack, Chip Bowdren, researches the local market to find the highest quality microwave at the lowest price.

2. The 2-man team of Rick and Alicia pick up and deliver the unit to the project location.

3. Rick shuts the power off to the electrical unit and removes the plug inside the cupboard.

4. Plastic is placed over the stove and surrounding area to protect the appliance below.

5. Alicia places foam padding on top of the stove to prevent damage in case of accidental dropping of unit.

6. Rick removes the screws from above cabinet.

7. Both team members lift the microwave off of the back wall hinge and carefully place the unit on the counter.

8. The new unit is removed from the box along with the template, instructions and accessories.

9. The template is taped to the bottom of the upper cabinet for correct positioning of the drill holes designated for the screws in each of four corners.

10. Rick drills the holes through the template and removes the template.

11. The new unit is lifted into place on the back wall hinges. Alicia holds the unit securely while Rick places the screws in the inside of upper cabinet in the pre-drilled holes.

12. All the plastic and foam is removed from the stove and Alicia cleans up any left over residue with a dustbuster. Rick sets the clock.

13. Rick tests the new unit by placing a mug of water in again. The water boils!

Mission Accomplished!

Beauty From The Ashes

Welcome back!

It's been a few years since our last blog entry. Since then Crestview Home Repair has been going through a period of "home improvement" itself. We have been blessed to be growing and improving each year - thanks to our wonderful customers and clientele including homeowners and realtors in the entire Okaloosa County area.

We have learned that every season of growth brings new lessons in life. We have found that the word "building" often involves "rebuilding" from the ground up. There are two rules of thumb in Home Repair:

1. If it's not broke don't fix it.
2. Every problem has a solution.

Sometimes the solution is to go back to square one. That involves evaluating what is left from the ashes of a problem and rebuilding a stronger foundation. This is a principle that applies to life as well as home repair. It is amazing how similar life's problems are to home repair and we will also be looking for some wisdom that can be found in every repair! There is always beauty to be found in the ashes. Nothing is impossible!

Stay tuned as we crank up the old blog into a new and better blog for your reading and educational pleasure. Future posts will be showcasing our current home repairs from beginning to finish. We will documenting every imaginable home repair with before and after pictures and hope to even include some video teaching clips from the one and only home repair "hero" Chip Bowdren!

We will also be showcasing our "A - Team" who are the "troops on the ground" as we travel in a convoy to locations around the county rescuing homes in need of repair!

I am glad to join the team as sister to the hero! I am also bringing my Florida State Building Contractors license as well as writer skills to this blog to bring clients and company together for problem solving and education.

We'll be back soon with more details and photos!

Thank you for your business! God bless you all.
